ACADEMICS

Illinois State’s College Panhellenic Council is one of a kind in regard to academics. We strive to push ourselves to achieve our goals and create new ones to surpass. We are a community that uplifts each other, holds our women accountable, and provides the resources to succeed in academics and beyond. In my Chapter, Zeta Tau Alpha, we put academics at the forefront of our focus and prioritize self-growth, humility, and ingenuity throughout the process. I am eternally grateful for our strong community that puts meaning behind the phrase 'women empowering women'.

PHILANTHROPY

Joining a sorority has given me so many opportunities that I would not have received anywhere else. I have made strong relationships, grown as an individual, and been able to give back through my chapter’s philanthropy. I was elected as my chapter’s philanthropy chairwoman this semester and I have loved every minute of it! I have so much freedom to come up with ideas and organize events to help fundraise for our philanthropy. This semester I came up with a new fundraiser that we had never done before, and I had so much fun with it! Being able to brainstorm new ideas and plan new events to raise money for our philanthropy is so fulfilling. I really enjoy that I can be creative and have fun coming up with new ideas all while giving back to our philanthropy. I am extremely passionate about my sorority’s philanthropy and being able to show that through my position is so rewarding. Not only am I able to plan and participate in our philanthropy events, but my sorority sisters and I participate in other organization’s philanthropy events and help them fundraise as well. Being so involved with philanthropy within the Panhellenic community is something that I love to do, and I am forever grateful for the amazing opportunity that my sorority has given me.

WELLBEING

Each chapter’s wellbeing contributes to the success of Illinois State’s Panhellenic Council. Often in college, it is hard to stay on top of everything and still keep yourself a priority. In our community, we have different opportunities for women to take that needed time. There are also many opportunities to learn more about safety and making safety a main focus. It is important to know that all members of the community are staying healthy and safe. In Alpha Gamma Delta, we strive to know our resources that we can go to if any of us are struggling. There are a lot of on campus resources that we have access to, as well as our advisors and resources in the community. Wellbeing is a key point to making sure that everyone is making safe, healthy, and good decisions.

SISTERHOOD

A sisterhood expands far beyond formals, chapter meetings, even philanthropy events. Sisterhood to me has become about support. It is being able to reach out to any sister and say, “Hey, I’m not doing ok. Can we talk?” and knowing you will be comforted in hugs, positive affirmation, and sometimes guided out of the darkness. Sisterhood is being able to confine in another about a poor test grade. It is about love, beyond measures. A love that is without limits or boundaries. That invisible feeling that is shown every time we hold onto one another during the good and bad moments in our lives, the action of showing how much we care and support one another. Sisterhood isn’t just about wearing a set of letters across your chest, it is about the unity and connections you make within your chapter. Because of my sisterhood I know I will never be alone in anything I do or feel.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Our Panhellenic community is full of women who not only support other women but hold one another accountable. To my chapter accountability is everything. We have standards that we hold ourselves accountable to so that we are able to truly be the women we say we are through our values. Faith, hope, wisdom, power, and love are our values in Tri Sigma. As sorority women, we are constantly evaluating our actions and asking ourselves if what we are doing is fulfilling our mission of sisterhood. We hold ourselves accountable to be women of good character and strive for scholarship.
